We’ve finally gotten our hands on Bungie’s latest attempt at expanding the Halo universe. For what is essentially an expansion pack to the iconic Halo 3, does ODST bring enough fresh experiences to the table to justify ‘dropping’ your hard earned cash?
Forget about Master Chief. You are The Rookie, a Lance Corporal and an ODST in the UNSC Marine Corps. ODST stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. ODSTs are a special group of UNSC Marines that specialize in warfare tactics. Their main means of infiltration is by orbital drop, which allows them to to engage combat in a more safe and secure manner.
Halo 3: ODST begins by introducing the main cast of the game right off the bat. The opening scene of the game shows The Rookie sleeping in the back, while your fellow ODST squad prepares for a drop. Your squadmates consist of four ODSTs: Buck, Dutch, Mickey, and Romeo. The last character introduced in the opening scene is Veronica Dare. Dare is the commanding officer of your squad. She can be seen wearing Recon armor. As the scene progresses, your squad is preparing for an orbital drop to assault a Covenant ship below. Things go haywire during the drop and all pods crash onto the surface of New Mombasa. You awake in your crashed pod all alone with no communication after the crash. You pop open your pod door, and drop down into the city streets.

I just hope it finally does enough to make it somewhat different from the past 3 halo games.
