There is still hope. A new Sonic game is in the works and you won’t believe in what way. The juicy details after the jump.
So after all these years, Sega has finally listened. Dubbed “Project Needlemouse,” Sega says that this new Sonic game will bring Sonic to his roots, where he once shined.
Sega of America’s Ken Balough states:
“Old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay. Many liked the daytime stages in Unleashed, but wanted to see a game that plays purely similar to the early games of the Genesis. Project Needlemouse is that critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots.”
The game will be in 2D and in HD, which makes a lot of old school Sonic fans happy after suffering through a lot of awful 3D Sonic games. No platforms were announced, though seeing as it’s an HD Sonic game, that eliminates one platform, though no one can be too sure right now.
